Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) on Tuesday submitted the charge sheet in the case filed in connection with the sexual assault of women on the Dhaka University campus during the celebration of Pahela Boishakh, the first day of Bangla month in 2015.
PBI Inspector Abdur Razzak submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka against the lone accused of the case, Md Kamal Hossain.
A group of youths sexually assaulted several women on April 14, 2015, during the
Pahela Boishakh celebration near the main entrance of the Suhrawardy Udyan, adjacent to the TSC of the Dhaka University.
The case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station in the city against a number of unnamed persons. Later, detectives identified eight of the accused, scrutinising the concerned CCTV footage and arrested Kamal in connection with the incident. During preliminary interrogation, Kamal confessed his involvement in the incident.
