River, biodiversity conservation stressed in Jamalpur

To stop unplanned river mining, damming, encroachment, use of different kinds of current nets to turn the river into a national resource stressed in a discussion meeting .
The discussion meeting on river and biodiversity conservation in Jamalpur was held at Tupkarchar Bazar ground under the Melandaha upazila on Friday
Alhaj Syed Haroon- Or -Rashid, former Jamalpur district commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad inaugurated the event by releasing fish fry in Brahmaputra River.
Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib University of Science and Technology Director, Security Analyst and River Researcher Kazi Sharif Uddin spoke as the chief guest. It was jointly organized by River Defenders Club, Melandaha Reporters Unity and Bangamata University Journalists Samiti.
Meeting presided by President of Reporters Unity-Ittefaq/ New Nation Correspondent Md. Shah Jamal.
The main discussant was Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib University of Science and Technology, Fisheries Department teacher, international researcher, river expert Dr. Mahmudul Hassan.
The special guest spoke- Alhaj Syed Haroon Or Rashid, former commander of Jamalpur District Freedom Fighters, famous dramatist Asadullah Faraji, president of Shaheed Samar Theater- veteran journalist of Bhorer Kagaz Rezaul Karim Lebu Master, vice president of Reporters Unity-correspondent of khaborpotro and river researcher Fazlul Karim, organizing secretary-khola kagoj correspondent Muttachimbillah, Bangmata University Journalist Association President-Daily Odhikar correspondent and research student Alfahad, and Fazlul Haque Member etc.
