Arrest warrant against Khaleda criticised

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has strongly criticised the government for issuing arrest warrant against his party chief Begum Khaleda. He termed the case as false and politically motivated.
The BNP’s newly appointed secretary general said this in a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the city on Thursday.
Mirza Fakhrul reiterated the demand for fresh Parliamentary polls. “Hold a participatory and acceptable participatory election in establishing democracy in the country,” he said.
He urged the government to hold talks with his party chief Khaleda Zia to find a way to end the

current political crisis. “Shun the path of political vengeance and hold dialogue with Khaleda Zia to initiate a free and fair election. Only a credible election could end the present political crisis in Bangladesh,” he said.
Mirza Fakhrul strongly criticised the government for issuing arrest warrant against the BNP chief. The case is false and politically motivated, he said.
