Army officer held with Phensidyl in Jamalpur

Police said they detained an army officer and seized 51 bottles of Phensidyl from a private car he was riding along with his two civilian companions early Thursday.
Maj. Imtiaj Nasim and two others were detained at Kamalpur Mirdhapara in Bakshiganj upazila of Jamalpur district, local police officer Nurul Islam Khan said.
He said Maj. Imtiaz was handed over to senior officials of army, while a case was filed against his companions Mamun and Sayeed with Bakshiganj police station under Nacotics Control Act.
Army officials were not available for comments.
Nurul Islam, Bakshiganj thana officer-in-charge said, acting on a tip they halted the private car on Roumari-Jamalpur road and detained the three with the contraband drugs. They were on way to Mymensingh town when police stopped the car, police said. Maj. Imtiaj told police he is posted at Chittagong cantonment.
