Burdwan blast: Another suspect held in Assam

bdnews24.com :A joint team of Assam Police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday night nabbed a key accused in the October 2 Burdwan blast Sahanur Alam from Mukalmua inNalbari district of Assam. He was in disguise at the time of arrest.A youth named Mujibur Rahman told media persons Saturday morning that Alam was arrested based on his tip off around 9pm.He claimed, he informed the police when Alam came to his house.India’s National Investigation Agency had announced a bounty of Rs 500,000 on Alam.While confirming Alam’s arrest, police sources revealed that he would be produced before a special court in Guwahati by the NIA seeking 15 days remand.Alam is being interrogated by a special team of police and NIA at the headquarters of Assam police’s Special Branch in Guwahati.Alam, who was known to be physician to locals, hails from Chatala village in Barpeta district of Assam and is alleged to have arranged the money for the Indian modules of the banned militant outfit Jam’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).He is believed to be recruiting local youths into the outfit and is accused of forming about 30 terror modules in Assam.A team of senior police officers are intensely interrogating him to extract complete information about JMB’s present network.Last month, Alam’s wife Sujena Begum was arrested by Assam Police and she is presently in judicial custody. She is alleged to have been imparting Jihadi education to female Madrasa students in Assam and West Bengal.JMB after being almost wiped out in Bangladesh due to strong actions taken by the government there has been taking the help of people like Sahanur to make IED (improvised explosive devices) in India and to establish terror modules in Assam and Bengal so that their activists could wreck mayhem in Bangladesh.
