Awami League (AL) supported mayoral aspirant Annisul Huq vowed to give comfort to the city residents if he is elected as mayor of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
“It’s a difficult task. But I will try my best to meet the basic amenities of the city dwellers provided by a proper planning,” Annisul pledges he said this in an exclusive interview with The New Nation on Monday. Annisul Huq, a successful garment entrepreneur and former FBCCI president, said that he has engaged 222 volunteers to know the demands and expectations of the city residents from a mayor.
“The volunteers have already talked with more than 60 thousands people of (DNCC). They will talk with more 40 thousand people to have a random sampling of demands. A plan will be devised based on their demands if he is elected as the mayor,” he added. He further added: I am confident I will be able to serve the people as per their expectations.
A call center has also been opened as part of my election campaign so that the city dwellers can provide their valuable suggestions regarding the services that the city corporation should offer to remove their discomfort. I will honour their opinions if they voted me, he said.
As per my knowledge, the residents want a clean and secure city for their comfort. I will put efforts to improve waste, drainage and manhole management system to ensure cleanness of the city. Besides, close circuit cameras will be installed in lanes, by-lanes, residential and commercial buildings with a view to turning the DNCC into a total security zone,” he added.
Annisul Huq maintained that a plan will also be devised to bring discipline in the city’s transport system. Efforts will be there to reduce environment pollution. All of these are my vision and I will engage an all-out effort to ensure the comfort of the city dwellers if they voted me.
The city dwellers are deprived of getting proper service from the city corporations although they are providing taxes regularly. But I want to give service first and then tax.
Expressing his future plan if he is elected, Annisul Huq said, I will make a proper plan in the first year of my office and then it will start implementing. The city will be run in a planned way and he would try his best to make the city green and beautiful.
