BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has claimed that joy of the upcoming Eid has been blemished by the sense of insecurity.
In a statement issued on Saturday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, Khaleda expressed her concerns over the economy and the law and order situation.
“There is no security to people’s life and property. Prices are rising uncontrollably. There is a terrible crisis of water, fuel and power, and they’re raising gas prices again,” she said.
“In short there is a terrible anarchy plaguing the nation.”
She believed people would not be able to enjoy their Eid in this situation.
The BNP chief greeted Muslims in Bangladesh as well as across the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
“The core lesson of Qurbani is to abandon selfishness and sacrifice one’s self to the welfare of humanity. It is our duty to give up hatred and greed and dedicate ourselves to bringing peace and harmony to the society,” she said.
She called on the wealthy to take a lesson from Eid and support the poor and the helpless.
“We should be mindful that on this joyful day, no one is unfed,” she said. “Let Eid bring happiness, prosperity, friendship and harmony to all.”
