All set to observe Int’l Mother Language Day

All are set and a four-tier security measures has been taken to observe the International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner in the port city.
 Different organisations and individuals have taken preparations to pay homage to the Language Martyrs who made supreme sacrifices for establishing the rightful place of the mother language in 1952 and inspired the nation to launch movement for a sovereign Bangladesh. Different political parties including Bangladesh Awami League and its associate bodies have finalised programmes to mark the day.
The programmes include placing of wreaths at Shaheed Minar, discussion, silent procession in the morning, cultural function and photo exhibition. Chittagong District Administration has chalked out elaborate programme keeping conformity with the national schedule on the occasion. The programmes include hand writing, drawing and singing competitions for children at Shishu Academy on Wednesday.
Special prayers at mosques, temples, pagodas and churches seeking divine blessings for the souls of language martyrs will also be held. The Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and district police have decided to enforce four-tier security measures in and around the Central Shaheed Minar and all Shaheed Minars at upazilas headquarters by deploying 3,700 members of law enforcing agencies. “Four-tier security measures have already been taken in Central Shaheed Minar area for peaceful observation of the day. Over 1,200 police personnel will be deployed in the Shaheed Minar and adjoining areas to ensure security, CMP Media Centre sources said. Apart from this, closed circuit camera televisions (CCTVs) will be installed in Shaheed Minar area while archway and metal detectors will be set up at each of the entry point to make the security foolproof, district Police superintendent Nur-e-Alam Mina told journalists. Another report adds: Different government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, socio-cultural organisations, political parties and educational institutions have completed all preparations to observe the “Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day-2018” in the city on February 21.
 According to officials, the district and Upazila Administrations and other organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.
In Khulna city, the observance will begin at one minute past after midnight on February 21 when Minister of Fisheries and Live Stock Naryan Chandra Chanda will place wreaths at Shaheed Minar in city’s Shaheed Hadis Park to pay due respect to the Language Movement Martyrs. Later, Muktijoddha Sangsad, Divisional Commissioner Md Lokman Hossain Mia, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Humayun Kabir, DIG of Khulna Range Police Didarul Islam will place wreaths there. Deputy Commissioner Amin-ul-Ahsan along with officials of the district and upazila administration will also place floral wreaths there to be followed by the other government and non-government departments and organisations. Bangladesh Awami League (AL) and its front organisations and other political parties, socio-cultural and professional organisations and common people will also place wreaths there to pay homage to the Language Movement Martyrs.
