Ali Raj in BTV’s serial after 36 years

Noted actor Ali Raj made his television debut with Bangladesh Television’s (BTV) drama titled Bhangoner Shobdo Shuni in 1970. His last acted in BTV’s popular drama serial titled Dhakaye Thaki, which was telecasted in 1984. After 36 years of break, the actor will be seen again in a BTV’s drama serial titled Pichhutan.
The shooting of the drama started recently at Bangladesh Television in the capital’s Rampura area. Directed by Zahid Hasan and written by Zakir Hossain Uzzal, Mahbuba Ferdous has produced the serial.
While talking about acting in the drama serial, Ali Raj said, “Honestly speaking I cannot express my feelings in a word. I am very excited about the drama as I am working in a BTV’s drama serial after 36 years. Today, I remember legendary film actor Razzak Bhai who had a lot of contribution in my acting career.”
Anwar Hossen, popularly known as Ali Raj in the silver screen, is a film actor of the country who has appeared in nearly 400 films. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor twice for his roles in the films Purey Jai Mon (2016) and Jannat (2018).
In 1970s, Ali Raj got his first break in BTV drama Bhangoner Shobdo Shuni. During that time he was working as general manager of a private company. In 1977, he shifted from his home Sirajganj to Dhaka. In 1984, Razzak made the film Shotbhai in which he played the half brother of Razzak. Then, he became a leading actor and starred in hundreds of films in 1980s and 1990s.
In 2010s, Ali Raj returned to Dhallywood and switched to playing supporting roles.
