Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
The painting exhibition of artist Alamin Hasan titled Love Story is being held at the Galerie Zoom of the Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in the city’s Dhanmondi area now.
The exhibition was inaugurated on November 21 held on Café la Veranda of the AFD.
Prof Syed Abul Barq Alvi, Professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University and Prof Lala Rukh Selim, Chairman of the Department of Sculpture of Dhaka University were present in the opening ceremony.
Two human beings; naked and wild, transformed to survive, met in a certain social platform and fell in love.
They took the common ride that everyone was talking, though it felt very special to them, but the ride was short. In the blink of an eye, they discovered themselves alone.
There’s no point of judging whether it’s good or bad because the world is getting full of so many things and life is offering so many opportunities in a growing rate that life seems short compared to the things left to do.
But of course, there are others who prefer deep, long attachments; but what Alamin really wants to express is the thrill- no matter how you face it, when you face it, slow or fast, as old or young; it always feels marvellous. The changes it leaves and the inspirations it grows, always makes you a better being.
As a sculptor, Alamin prefers forms over colors and he wanted to make these works look like very personal, so visually, these paintings are like framed windows to someone’s personal life where you can see just them, nobody else, nothing else; and the use of vibrant primary colors with expressionistic strokes, symbolises the constant confused state they are in, it represents the core concept of love- nobody knows nothing about it! It’s a simple, but a very old love story. Look at their eyes, they are telling you something. The exhibition will continue till December 4.  n NN Photo
