Fakhrul says: AL destroyed democracy, independent instts

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday alleged that Awami League has destroyed democracy, electoral system and all the independent institutions of the country with its one-party rule.
“Awami League has bolstered its one-party rule through the January-5 voter-less polls. They’ve empowered an ineffective parliament to impeach apex court judges to bring the judiciary under its absolute control,” he told the triennial conference of Brahmanbaria BNP unit.
The BNP spokesperson urged people to get united to oust the government under BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s leadership.
Criticising the Awami League activities, the BNP leader alleged that the present government looted Tk 30,000 crore in the last three years. “If we say anything against them we’ve to face sedition cases… 20-30 incidents of murder are taken place every day. The incidents of forced disappearance have become a regular phenomenon,” he alleged.About Tarique’s remarks on Bangabandhu he said, “Without giving any reply to Tarique’s factual statements, the AL leaders have been talking against Ziaur Rahman, Tarique and Khaleda Zia using in non-political words.”
“We know the consequences of Namrud, Firaun, Mussolini and Ayub Khan. Awami League now awaits the same fate,” he said.
BNP vice-chairman adv Harun Al Hashid, BNP Chairperson’s adviser Ukil Abdus Sattar, Mushfiqur Rahman, its Chittagong divisional organising secretary Golam Akbar Akand, among others, spoke at the programme.
