AL bags 10 out of 11 chairmen posts in Pirganj UZ

Awami League (AL)-nominated candidates have won landslide victory bagging 10 posts of Union Parishad (UP) chairman out of 11 in Pirganj upazila where elections were held here on Thursday as elsewhere in the country.
Citing unofficial results of UP elections held in 11 out of total 15 UPs in Pirganj, Upazila Election Officer KN Roy Niyoti said AL-nominated 10 candidates have won 10 UP chairmen posts while an independent candidate bagged the other chairman post.
According to unofficial results, AL-nominated candidate Ziaur Rahman Sabuz has won the chairman post of Choitrokol UP bagging 5,698 votes defeating his nearest rival independent candidate Ariful Islam who got 4,474 votes.
AL-nominated candidate Motaharul Haque Bablu, also President of Pirganj upazila AL, has won the chairman post of Barodorga UP bagging 9,074 votes beating his nearest rival Jatiya Party (JP)-nominated candidate Faruk Mandal who got 6,671 votes.
In Kumedpur union parishad election, AL-nominated candidate Moshfak Hossain Khan Chowdhury Fuad has won the chairman post bagging 6,733 votes defeating his nearest rival independent candidate Mozammel Haque Lal who bagged 4,562 votes.
AL-nominated candidate Shamsul Alam won the UP chairman post in Madankhali union elections bagging 8,800 votes defeating his nearest rival independent candidate Mostafizar Rahman Manik Mandal. Manik bagged 5,830 votes.
In Tukuria UP elections, AL-nominated candidate Ataur Rahman Mandal has won the chairman post bagging 7,199 votes defeating his nearest rival JP-nominated candidate Mizanur Rahman Shahin who bagged 4,789 votes.
AL-nominated candidate Mizanur Rahman Mantu has won the chairman post of Shanerhat union bagging 9,451 votes beating his nearest rival JP-nominated candidate Abed Hossain Khan Maju who bagged 4,133 votes.
In Panchgachhi UP, AL-nominated candidate Lutfar Rahman Mandal Latif won the chairman post bagging 3,860 votes defeating his nearest rival independent candidate Bablu Mandal. Bablu got 4,859 votes.
AL-nominated candidate SM Faruk Ahmed became chairman of Mithipur union bagging 5,549 votes defeating his nearest rival independent candidate Hassan Ali Sarker who bagged 4,529 votes.
