AL backed panel wins bar council elections

The ruling Awami League-backed panel Sammilito Ainjibi Samonnay Parishad wins a landslide victory in the elections of the Bangladesh Bar Council, a licensing and regulatory body for all the lawyers of Bangladesh, over the BNP backed panel Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad.
Official results announced on Sunday night said, Sammilita Ainjibi Samannoy Parishad wins 10 out of a total of 14 seats in the election of the Bangladesh Bar Council, while the BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad secured only four posts.
According to the results the wining candidates from the Sammilito Ainjibi Samonnay Parishad are- Syed Rezaur Rahman, Muklesur Rahman Badal, Md Robiul Alam Budu, Sayeed Ahmed Raja, Abdul Baten, Md Jalal Uddin Khan, AFM Ruhul Anam Chowdhury Mintu, Anis Uddin Ahmed Shahid, Md Ekramul Haque and Abdur Rahman.
The wining candidates from the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad are— Zainul Abedin, AM Mahbub Uddin Khokan, Ruhul Quddus Kazal and Advocate ASM Badrul Anwar.
Bangladesh Bar Council Chairman and Attorney General AM Amin Uddin announced the result on Sunday midnight after a long counting.
Advocate Sayeed Ahmed Raja, a candidate from Sammilito Ainjibi Samonnay Parishad, secured highest 17,433 votes among the wining candidates. The voting took place from 10.00am to 5.00pm on May 25.
