Akbar Ali for referendum to resolve pol crisis

Former adviser of a caretaker government Dr Akbar Ali has suggested the government to hold a referendum in resolving the country’s political crisis.
“Peoples’ opinion is needed over the caretaker government issue. If people give their opinion for the system through the referendum, then everybody should accept it,” said the noted economist at a conference in the capital on Saturday.
Sushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Sujan), a non-government organisation working on good governance, organized the national conference at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
Dr Akbar Ali said development is not possible without democracy and country people are eager to want back democracy in the country.
Firmer VC of Dhaka University Prof Emajuddin Ahmed, Sujan president M Hafizuddin Khan, former Chief Election Commissioners Abu Hena and ATM Shamsul Huda also spoke.
