The first ever solo exhibition of seasoned actor-director Afzal Hossain is going to be held in New York this month. New York-based weekly Ajkal has arranged the exhibition of Afzal Hossain on the occasion of completing 10 years of their weekly newspaper, Zakaria Masud Jiko, Chief Editor and Publisher of Ajkal, confirmed the news over mobile phone recently.
Not only there will be a solo exhibition of Afzal Hossain, but also the noted media personality will be honoured with Ajkal Award during the celebration of the founding anniversary. With honouring Afzal Hossain for the first time, Ajkal is going to introduce the award from the current year. Afzal Hossain left Dhaka for New York on Sunday night to attend the event.
Before leaving Bangladesh, Afzal Hossain told this correspondent, “This is really fascinating that my first ever solo exhibition is going to finally be held. The first solo exhibition is set to be held outside the country in New York, which gives me a sense of pleasure in my mind. Zakaria Masud Jiko makes it possible with his cordial effort. My artworks were displayed in various group exhibitions in Dhaka earlier on different occasions. But this is my first solo exhibition. I hope it will be an opportunity of exchanging ideas with many from Bangladesh who will be visiting my exhibition in New York. On the whole, it will be enjoyable.”
Afzal Hossain’s solo exhibition is scheduled to be held on October 29 from 12pm to 10pm at the Bellozino Banquet Hall in New York City. On the other hand, three-day celebration of the founding anniversary of Ajkal will start from October 27. Afzal Hossain will be honoured on the first day of the celebration at World’s Fair Marina in New York.
