One more died of dengue and 371 were hospitalized across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.
In Jashore, a housewife has died of dengue during treatment at Ibn Sina Hospital on Tuesday.
She has been identified as Sima Khatun, wife of Billal Hossain, from Patibila village in Minirampur Upazila of Jashore district. Sima was taken to the Ibn Sina Hospital three days ago with fever. Before that she was admitted to Chaugachha upazila hospital. After receiving treatment at Chougachha Hospital for two days, he was referred to Jashore Sadar Hospital. As her condition worsened, she was referred to Ibn Sina Hospital.
Patibila village UP member Bhisharat Hossain confirmed her death.
Till 8am on Tuesday, 106 new patients were admitted in Dhaka and 265 in other districts.
Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans through its carrier, the Aedes mosquito.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a press release issued on Tuesday said that the number of patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals in the country was 1,472.
A total of 81 dengue patients died across Bangladesh from January 1 till October 1, according to their own data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be around 170 so far. As many as 547 patients were currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas 925 people were undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the DGHS data said.
Since January 1 till October 1, as many as 88,324 people had been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 86,616 have been released from hospitals and clinics after treatment.
