After long wait two foreign commercial ships reach Mongla Port

After a long waiting for 4 days near at Hiron point, the entry point of the outer bar of the channel Pashur of Mongla Sea Port two big foreign commercial ships named MV. C S Future carrying the flag of Panama and MV. Pioneer Dream carrying the flag of Tovalue loading with imported goods (bound for Mongla) reached the hourbour area of the port on Tuesday noon and anchored with buoy No. 08 and buoy No.11 respectively. It was confirmed by Commander Shaikh Fakharuddin, Harbour Master of Mongla Port authorities. It was already mentioned above that the ships had been waiting near at Hiron point for want of sufficient navigability in the outer bar of the Port. On October 03 a hover dredger was sent there in order to create navigability in the outer bar. After the completion of the dredging work both the foreign ships were able to entere into the channel and reached the harbour area of the port. It was learnt from the different sources, mainly from the shipping agents of the port that long 11 kilometers area of the outer bar of the port was dredged in the year of 2020 at a cost of about Taka 7 hundred crors so that ships with 9.5 meter depth can easily enter into the channel. But the depth of both those two foreign ships was below 9 meter depth. In this connection Commander Shaikh Fakharuddin, Harbour Master of the port authorities told, after the completion of the dredging work of the outer bar the place was once again silted up with sands and with the advent of the rainy seasons the position became deteriorated. He added, a hover dredger was sent there recently to dredge the area.
On September 30 a foreign ship MV. CS Future with 9.03 meter depth carrying flag of Panama loaded with 23 thousand Urea fertilizer bound for Mongla anchored at Pilot Station near Hiron point. On the following day (October 01) another foreign ship MV. Pioneer Dream carrying the flag of Tovalue with 9.25 depth loaded with 11 thousand metric tones of ceramic materials anchored at the same place.
