Actors Riaz Uddin Ahmed Siddique, Azmeri Haque Badhon, Tarana Halim and footballer Kaysar Hamid joined the election campaign of ruling Awami League nominated mayor candidate Atiqul Islam in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC)
election on Wednesday morning. AL nominee started his sixth day’s campaign from in front of Al-Raji Hospital at Farmgate in the capital around 11:00am. The celebrities were with him during the campaign and campaigned for boat and distributed leaflets among the voters.
On December 22, the Election Commission announced that the election of Dhaka south and north city corporations will be held on January 30.
Meanwhile, addressing a meeting before conducting his electoral campaign Atiqul Islam urged the city-dwellers to cast their votes in favour of ‘Boat’, the electoral symbol of AL, for continuing the ongoing development to build a modern, livable and dynamic Dhaka city.
Atiqul hoped that the city corporation polls will be held in a free, fair and transparent manner and the city people will vote for ‘Boat’ to strengthen the hands of the AL government.
He said, “Give me vote, I will give you a modern and smart city. We have more challenges ahead and I will face those challenges with you. At first, I will take an initiative to make the city free from traffic jam.”
Later, the mayor candidate conducted his campaign in Holy Cross School, Chhapra Mosque, Lucas Level Crossing, Nabisco, Kunipara Begunbari and Tejgaon areas.
