Assault on teacher: Action against MP Mujibur demanded

Staff Reporter :The residents of Gouripur, Mymensingh, on Monday demanded suspension of membership of Captain Mujibur Rahman Fakir from the Parliament as he directed his cadres to assault a teacher on June 22.They demanded immediate arrest of Captain Mujibur Rahman and his accomplices for justice. The people of the area said this at a human chain held in front of the National Press Club under the banner of “Bikkhubdhya Gouripurbashi”. Dr Samiul Alam Liton, Assistant Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, sub-committee, presided over the programme while Md Ferdous Alam, Vice-President of Awami Sanskritik Jote, Naznin Alam, AL leader, Rokon Uddin Pathan, General Secretary of Awami Muktijoddha Projonmo League, Professor Samir Mitra, Advocate Krishna Kumar Ray, Journalist Asik Ray Guha, K H Samrat and Freedom Fighter Mokhlesur Rahman Khan, addressed the function, among others. They alleged that Mujibur Rahman Fakir directed his cadres to assassin the image and reputation of Farid Uddin Ahmed. Mujibur Rahman Fakir’s cadres attacked Farid Uddin and stripped his shirt and pant. They also confined Farid and tortured his mercilessly, they said.They said that the residents of Gauripur, Maymansingh, sought justice from different parts of the administrations. But no one helped them. They also requested the MP to resolve the matter. But he did not take any initiative in this regard, they alleged.
