‘42,71,45,221 children receive oral polio vaccine’

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim, MP, has said the government administered oral polio vaccine to 42,71,45,221 children from 1995 to 2013 while observing 21 national immunization days across the country.
The health minister made the assertion in the Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday while replying to a question from treasury bench member AFM Bahauddin (Nasim).
Nasim said the government introduced the oral polio vaccination to 0-5 years children in 1995 for freeing the country from polio.
The minister said the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the South East Asia along with Bangladesh a polio free region on March 27, 2014.
