Speakers at BASEXPO: Achievement of 50 bn dollars market for RMG export possible

Shipping Minister Md. Shahjahan Khan MP said, Bangladesh is crossing all obstacles to reach the desired goal and Bangladesh now become a topic of discussions in the global forum.
He said this while addressing the seminar on Financing Apparel Growth at Bangladesh Apparel & Safety Expo-15 at Hotel Radison Blue in Chittagong on Friday evening as special guest arranged by BGMEA , Chittagong chapter.
 Ports and shipping minister said we achieved independence after facing challenges and we know how to reach our target it is not impossible to reach the target of RMG exports of US dollar of 50 billion in 2021 .
Minister said foreign investors expressed keenness to invest in the proposed Payera Port , Mongla Port gradually developing and the Chittagong Port has developed tremendously which globally ranks at 86 which will upgrade by this year to 70th position globally.
So the RMG exporters will get benefits from three ports and easily to reach the vision of US $ 50 bn by 2021 .The chief guest on the occasion Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal asked the NBR as the RMG owners can import diesel on duty free as the diesel is also a part of raw materials for RMG sector.
Dr. Naznin Ahmed, fellow of Bangladesh Institute of Development studies presented the keynote paper in the seminar and President of BGMEA Atiqul Islam was the moderator in it. Among others, NBR chairman Nazibur Rahman, CDA chairman Abdus Salam, ILO country director Sree Nibash B Reddi, President of FBCCI Matlub Ahmed, former BGMEA vice president Faruk Hasan, Prof. Sharif Saber of RMIT Univeristy of Melbourne participated the discussions.
Mentionable that commerce Minister Tofael Ahmed formally inaugurated the BASAEXPO -15 at Radison Bule Hotel in Chittagong on Thursday morning as chief guest and he urged the global importers and buyers of the developed and the developing countries to increase the prices of RMG products of Bangladesh .
 He also mentioned that the quality of Bangladeshi RMG products is much better than the products of other developing countries .
