The Australian Government has been left humiliated after a judge on Jan 10 threw out its bid to cancel Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic’s visa to defend his Australian Open title. The Government was also ordered by Judge Anthony Kelly to pay all Djokovic’s costs, return his passport and personal effects, and release him from immigration detention. Government counsel Christopher Tran told the court on Jan 10 that immigration minister, Alex Hawke, will consider whether to exercise a personal power of canceling the visa.
