The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday approved charge sheet in a case against BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed and his brother Manjur Ahmed on charge of grabbing a government house worth Tk 300 crore at Gulshan in the city.
The commission in its routine meeting gave the approval, ACC Commissioner Shahabuddin Chuppu told the media.
The charge sheet will be submitted to the court shortly. ACC filed a case against them with Gulshan Thana on December 17 under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947.
According to case record, Dhaka Improvement Trust, now renamed as RAJUK, handed over a plot, measuring one bigha and 14 katha, located in Gulshan Housing area, to Mohammd Ehsan on December 30, 1961.
Later, the land was registered against his wife’s name, Inge Maria Flatz, in 1965. Both Ehsan and Flatz were Pakistan nationals.
As Ehsan and Flatz left the country before the list of
abandoned houses was prepared. On January 21, 1972, the plot was included in the list of abandoned houses.
In August 1973, Barrister Moudud Ahmed prepared a fake power of attorney in the name of Maria Flatz to grab the land and used it to gain his own interest.
When Moudud Ahmed was holding different key posts in the council of minister during 1978-1989 period, he tried to grab the house misusing his power, the case story says.
Later, in March 1984, he drafted another power of attorney authorising one Mohsin Darbar (an unknown person), to sell the property of Maria. Flatz died on March 30, 1985. Then Moudud Ahmed drafted a sale agreement between his brother Manjur Ahmed and Mohsin Darbar.
The case said, the BNP leader has been living in the house since 1978 preparing a number of fake documents.
As Moudud and his brother in collusion with each other captured the house, both were sued and included in the charge sheet.
ACC Deputy Director Harun-Ar-Rashid investigating the mater submitted the final report to the Commission recently with the recommendation of submitting the charge sheet.
