Monir Hossain, Narayanganj Correspondent :Seven people abducted and killed in Narayanganj, including panel mayor Nazrul Islam and lawyer Chandan Sarkar, were strangled to death by professional killers, the autopsy report said.Seven people including Nazrul and Chandan Sarkar were abducted from the port city on April 27. The bodies of six were found floating in the river Shitalakkhya on April 29 while another body was found on the following day. “The seven people were hit behind their heads before strangulation by rope. “There were burn marks on their bodies. The killers were skilled and professionals,” revealed the autopsy report which was handed over to Narayanganj Civil Surgeon Dulal Chandra Chowdhury on Wednesday.Dr Md Asaduzaman Miah, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Narayanganj General Hospital and chief of the autopsy board, submitted the report to the civil surgeon at the latter’s office at around 11:30am on the day.”All the victims were hit on their heads and then strangulated with ropes and then their abdomens were gored,” said Dulal Chandra Chowdhury, adding, “All the victims were killed in the same style, which proved that the killers are trained and professional. Later their abdomens were cut and the bodies ditched in the river,” he said.Referring to the report, he said, “They were killed about 48-72 hours before the time of autopsy, conducted between the night of April 30 and the following morning. The killers made holes under the navel of each of the bodies so that those remain hidden under water. The Nrayanganj Civil Surgeon said the autopsy report will be sent to the Bandar Police Station and the office of Narayanganj Superintendent of Police (SP).
