A petition was filed with a court here on Thursday seeking a warrant for the arrest of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case for going to London with court’s permission.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal filed the petition with the court of Special Judge-5 Md Akhtaruzzaman.
However, the court did not pass any order in this regard.
Meanwhile, Khaleda’s counsel Sanaullah Miah filed another petition seeking continuation of the case proceedings in the absence of the BNP chief.
The court accepted the pleas after hearing and fixed July 24 for the next hearing.
On August 8, 2011, the ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abuse of power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
