AARDO session begins tomorrow

The 3-day 68th session of the Executive Committee (EC) of African-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO) would sit tomorrow at Westin Hotel in the city.
AARDO, a 31-member states organization between Africa and Asia, has been contributing to develop the rural areas of two continents, would sit from January 19.
Talking to newsmen at a briefing at his ministry conference room secretary of rural development and cooperative division Dr Prosanta Kumar Roy said that Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogra in Bangladesh is going to host the 3-day 68th session with 35 representatives from 14 countries of the two continents.
“It’s a big initiative for the low income countries to develop rural areas and we have already achieved the development goals. Now Bangladesh is going to achieve sustainable development,” he said.
Roy said the AARDO also promotes collaboration with various international organisations for the economic and social welfare of the rural community.

The secretary said that the present government led by the Prime Minister increased the per capital income to $ 1,500 from $ 600, adding, “We usually signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to working collectively.”

Local Government and Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain would inaugurate the session as the chief guest, while state minister for the same ministry M Mashiur Rahman Ranga is scheduled to join as the special guest.
