A Gaibandha ward brought under cent percent sanitation coverage

 A ward of Gidari union under Sadar upazila has been brought under cent percent hand washing and sanitation coverage. Sadar upazila social service officer Md. Nasiruddin Palash disclosed this at a function as the chief guest held on the premises of Pocharkura Govt. Primary school of the union on Thursday noon.
Acting upazila primary education officer Most. Anju Ara Golenur Begum was present at the event as the special guest while local UP chairman Harun-or Rashid alias Idu Miah presided over the ceremony and project coordinator Hasina Parvin was the moderator.
Official sources said, with the financial support of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australia, SKS Foundation, a local reputed non-government organization, in partnership with World Vision Bangladesh has been implementing the SHOMOTA (Strengthening Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Wash in Bangladesh) project at the union since 2019 while Centre for Disability Development (CDD), Bangladesh is providing technical assistance.
The officials and employees of the project started motivating the people of the union to wash hands with soaps. They also made the people of the union understand about the negative impact of defecation.
In response, the people of the union, learned from the project officials how to wash hands with soaps to get rid of the diseases including ongoing coronavirus.
As per their suggestions the people refrained from defecation to ensure a good environment.
Later the chairman of the union and a number of people of the ward were given crests as recognition for their positive work from the project.
Representative of CDD Rashedul Azam and a large number of people, local elite, invited persons, NGO activists including the journalists of print and electronic media attended the function.
