CCC mayoral polls: 9 candidates submit nomination papers

A total of 9 candidates for mayoral post and 278 candidates for councilors and women reserved councilors submitted nomination papers to the Returning officer of Chattogram .
Thursday was the last day of submission of nomination papers
 Awami League nominated Mayor candidate Reazaul Karim Chowdhury submitted his nomination paper on Thursday to contest the forthcoming Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) polls on March 29.
Acting city AL president Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, its general secretary and city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, city AL vice Presidents Khorshed Alam Sujan, Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul, treasurer Abdus Salam, President of Chattogram North district unit AL MA Salam, General Secretary of South district AL Mofizur Rahman and senior party leaders and activists accompanied Reazaul while submitting the nomination paper to returning officer Mohammad Hasanurzaman at the regional Election Office around 11.45 am on Thursday.
Meanwhile, BNP ‘s Mayor candidate Dr Shahdat Hossain along with senior BNP leaders submitted the nomination paper to returning officer Hasanurzaman at the regional Election Office around 2 pm. A total of nine mayoral hopefuls’ candidates out of 11 nomination papers recipients submitted nomination papers so far till Thursday .
The mayoral candidates so far submitted nomination papers are- Rezaul Karim Chowdhuryof AL, Dr.Shahdat Hossain of BNP, Solaiman Alam Seth of JP, MA Matin of Islami Front, Md. Jannatul Islam of Islamic Movement , Abul Mansur of Peoples Party, Md. Wahed Murad of IFB, Independent candidates Kokan Chowdhury & Tanzer Abedin .
Besides, 278 candidates for councilors and reserved women councilors also submitted nomination papers to the retuning officer.
