111,901 get GPA- 5: 4.30 pass rate lower than previous year: Rajshahi tops in success rate

M M Jasim :A total of 12,82,618 students out of 1,473,594 have passed in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations, showing 87.04 per cent pass rate. It was 4.30 percentage lower than the previous year. As many as 1, 11,901 students secured the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) this year which was 1,42,276 in 2014.Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid formally announced the results at a press briefing at the secretariat at noon on Saturday.Earlier, the education minister formally handed over a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gono Bhaban in presence of chairmen of all the education boards. The Prime Minister congratulated the students for scoring good results despite adverse political situation. She said the pass rate would go up if hartals had not been enforced during the examinations. Responding to a question about the fall of pass rate, the education minister told journalists that the pass rate has dropped due to non-stop blockade and hartal porgrammes enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.”As the exam dates was changed repeatedly due to the hartal, it caused mental pressure on the examinees in taking preparation for the examinations” he said. Total 88.65 per cent students passed the examinations under Dhaka Board, 82.77 per cent in Chittagong, 84.22 per cent in Comilla, 94.97 per cent in Rajshahi, 84.37 per cent in Barisal, 81.82 per cent in Sylhet, 85.05 per cent in Dinajpur and 84.02 in Jessore while 90.20 per cent in Madrasa Education Board and 83.01 per cent in the SSC (vocational).A total of 292 students out of 299 came out successful from eight foreign exam centres this year. Some 5, 095 schools out of 27, 816 came out successful with cent percent pass rate. Students of 24 schools and madrasas under five education boards out of 10 boards failed to come out successful in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations.Of them, one is under Dhaka Board, one under Barisal Board, one under Dinajpur Board and 21 under the Madrasa Board. The number of schools and madrasas with “zero results” was 22 last year. Shamsul Hoque School and College, Demra secured the top position in Dhaka Board in the SSC examinations with attaining 97.88 points.Rajuk Uttara Model School and College, Uttara, clinched the second position with 96.67 points, Ideal School and College, Motijheel secured the third position with 96.54 points, Viqarunnisa Noon School, Ramna came up at the fourth position with 95.22 points, Bindu Basini Government Boy’s high School, Tangail obtained the fifth position with 93.27 points. Motijheel Government Boys’ High School got the sixth position with 92.26 points, Safiuddin Sarker Academy, Tongi, Gazipur secured the seventh position with 91.94 points, Mymensingh Zilla School, Mymensingh obtained the eight position with 91.69 points, Dhaka Residential Model College, Mohammadpur, Dhaka got the ninth position with 91.00 points and Mymensingh Girl’s Cadet College, Mymensingh came up at 10th position with 91.00 points.Jhenaidah Cadet College secured the top position in Jessore Board in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations-2015 with attaining 90 points. At the ranking table, Police Line Secondary School, Jessore came up at the 2nd position with attaining 86.38 points, Military Collegiate School, Khulna secured the 3rd position with 82.77 points, Khulna Public College, Khalishpur, Khulna got the 4th position with 82.60 points and Government Coronation Secondary Girls’ School, Khulna obtained the 5th position with 82.22.Kushtia Zilla School obtained the 6th position with 81.82 points, Khulna Zilla School attained the 7th position with 80.52 points, Jessore Zilla School got the 8th position with 79.86 points, Government Laboratory High School, Khan Jahan Ali, Khulna secured the 9th position with 77.12 points and Daud Public School, Jessore came up at the 10 spot with 76.36 points.Barisal Cadet College, Babuganj, Barisal secured the top position in Barisal Board in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations this year with 91 points.Barisal Government Girls’ High School also captured the second position with 85.27 points, Barisal Zila School retained the third position with 82.40 points, Taslima Memorial Academy, Patharghata, Barguna clinched the fourth position with 75.62 points and Patuakhali Government Girls’ High School took the the fifth spot with 70.67 points.Bagir Hat Secondary School, Taltali, Barguna got the 6th position attaining 70.03 points, Patuakhali Government Jubilee High School obtained the 7th place with 69.28 points, Pirojpur Government Girls’ School became 8th with 68.02 points, Chhoto Bagi PK Secondary School, Taltali, Barguna secured the 9th position with 67.93 points and Bukhai Nagar Secondary School, Barisal took the 10th spot with 67.65 points.Chittagong Collegiate School won the top spot in Chittagong Education Board (CEB) in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations-2015 95.97 points.At the ranking table, Dr. Khastagir Govt. Girls’ High School secured the 2nd place with 91.16 points while Fauzdarhat Cadet College took the third position with 91.00 points. Bangladesh Mohila Samity Girls’ High School and College became fourth winning 88.65 points, Ispahani Public School and College got the fifth position with 87.80 points, Govt. Muslim High School secured the 6th position winning 87.44 points, Cantonment English School and College became 7th with 86.44 points, Chittagong Govt. High School took the 8th position with 85.95points, Silver Bells Girls’ High School became 9th winning 85.58 points and Chittagong Govt. Girls’ High School College secured 10th position having got 85.10 points.Bogra Cantonment Public School and College secured the top position in Rajshahi Board in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations this year attaining 93.19 points.Bogra Zila School clinched the second place with 91.07 points, Rajshahi Cadet College secured the third position with 91.00 points, Rajshahi Collegiate School took the fourth position with 90.69 points and Bogra Government Girls High School obtained the fifth position with 90.61 points.Pabna Cadet College got the sixth position with 90.00 points, Rajshahi Government Girls High School secured the seventh position with 89.34 points, Bogra BIAM Model School and College got the eighth position with 88.85 points, Rajshahi Government PN High School took the ninth position with 88.46 points and Bogra SOS Hermann Gmeiner College secured the 10th position with 88.30 points.Sylhet Cadet College secured the first position in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination-2015 obtaining 91 points in the Sylhet Education Board.Among the top 20 institutions, Jalalabad Cantonment Public School & College took the second spot with 82.61 points, Blue Bird High School took the third position having 79.14 points, while Govt. Agragami Girls’ High School secured fourth position attaining 78.96 points, Sylhet Govt. Pilot High School became fifth with 74.76 points, BAF Shahin School and College secured sixth position with 74.54 points, Scholarshome, Sylhet Sadar got the seventh position with 72.36 points, Homeland Ideal School took the eight position with 72.12 points, Govt. High School, Habiganj Sadar obtained the ninth position with 70.95 points and B.K.G.C. Govt. Girls’ High School became tenth with 70.90 points.Rangpur Cantonment Public School and College secured top position in Dinajpur Board in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations this year attaining 94.99 points.Rangpur Cadet College clinched the second position with 91.00 points, Rangpur Millenninum Stars School and College secured the third position with 90.26 points, Rangpur Zilla School became fourth with 90.07 points and Syededpur Govt.
