73 sued in Bogra over JL leader murder

A case was filed against 73 people, including some local leaders of BNP, Awami League and Jubo League, in
connection with the killing of a Jubo League leader in a clash between the members of two transport workers associations in Adamdighi upazila.
Nur Islam, president of Santahar CNG Owners Association and brother of the Jubo League president Shafiqul Islam, filed the case against 23 identified and 50 unidentified people with Adamdighi Police Station in the morning. Tofazzal Hossain Bhutto, BNP-backed mayor of Santahar municipality,
Ashraful Islam Mantu, joint secretary of Adamdighi upazila unit Awami League, NMH Milon, president of the upazila unit Jatiya Party, were among the accused.
Shahin Reza, sub-inspector of Adamdighi Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, said police arrested Ashraful Islam Mantu, Awami League leader and also the chairman of Santahar union parishad, Abdul Latif, president of Santahar municipality unit Jatiya Party and another Jatiya Party leader Sajal in this connection.
Earlier on Friday, Shafiqul Islam, president of Santahar union unit Jubo League, was killed in a clash between the members of two transport workers associations. Shafiqul Islam had been at loggerheads with Ferdous Hasan Sumon, general secretary of upazila JaPa and secretary of upazila battery-run auto-rickshaw owners’ association, over the plying of motorized and non-motorised vehicles.
Meanwhile, a Sramik League activist, who received injuries during the clash, died on Saturday morning.
