A check for special financial assistance of the Prime Minister has been issued to the journalists affected by the Coronation in Rangpur. A cheque for Tk 10,000 was handed over to 69 journalists at the Rangpur Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Saturday.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud virtually attaend the meeting as chief guest and said Bangladesh is moving forward even in Corona. Bangladesh is ahead in South Asia. Our progress is on the path to prosperity with the skill and determination of the Head of Government. In the current situation, the media has to play a strong role in raising awareness among the public to deal with Corona. We have to work to raise the awareness of the people especially in the villages.
He said the media in Bangladesh is much more independent than in many developed countries of the world. At the initiative of the Prime Minister, special financial assistance is being provided to the journalists affected during the Corona period. There are not many such initiatives in developed countries. But we are giving. Because this government is a media friendly public welfare oriented government.
Zafar Wazed, Managing Director of Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust and Director General of Press Institute Bangladesh-PIB spoke as special guests on the occasion.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Asib Ahsan handed over cheques to each journalist on behalf of the Information Minister. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) was also present at the time. Golam Rabbani, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Mahmud Hasan Mridha, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md. Rahat bin Qutb and others.
Rangpur District Awami League President Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Metropolitan Awami League President Safiyar Rahman Safi, Rangpur Press Club Outgoing President Monabbar Hossain and newly elected President Mahbubur Rahman were also special guests at the function presided over by Deputy Commissioner Asib Ahsan. General Secretary of the Press Club Rafiqul Islam Sarkar Rafiq gave a welcome speech at the event. The function was conducted by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Kashpia Tasreen.
According to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the Prime Minister’s Special Financial Assistance Cheque for Tk 10,000 has been issued to 89 journalists of Rangpur district, including members of various journalists’ organizations affected by the Coronation (Phase II) from the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust.
Earlier, in the first phase, 48 journalists of the district received financial assistance.
