549 plot owners of Lake City Housing inChittagong city have became victims of the tussle of city watchdogs City Corporation and the Chittagong Development Authority. After full payment of plot value , the plot owners did not receive the plot for the last 5 years. These plot owners yet to uncertain about the receipt of their respective plots. The new uncertainty for the plot owners creates following the suspension of the project development work of Lake City housing by the CDA recently. Meanwhile CCC had spent Tk.10 cr for the development of the housing project .
CCC sources said with a view to resolve the accommodation problems of the low income people in the city, CCC procured 31 acres of land in 2003 behind the Foy’sLake aimed at developing housing plots. In the meantime, CCC developed 549 plots of 2.5 Katas each at the rate of fixed at Tk.6 lakh per Kata. The plot owners paid full value of the plots in 2009 but CCC did not hand over the plots to the allotters. A sources said CCC has earned Tk.82.35 cr by selling these plots.
CCC sources said CDA has asked them to suspend their development work on Monday with lame excuse of irregularities in architectural work as per CDA plan. CDA sources said lack of accurate development work as per CDA plan , we compelled to stop the area development work of the housing project of CCC. But CCC denied the statement of CDA and CDA.
