At least 53 people were arrested by law enforcing agencies on charges of carrying, using and trading of illegal drugs from the city’s different areas in last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.
They also seized 679 pieces of Yaba pills, .88 Kg heroin, 1.55 Kg cannabis, 31 bottles of phensidyle and 202 pieces of injection tubes from their possession, police said.
The different teams of law enforcers, including Detective Members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted separate drives in the city and its adjacent areas from
Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning and arrested them on charges of different drug-related crimes said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Publications) of the Dhaka police.
The arrested people also confessed to the police that they were involved with inter-district drug peddling gangs, the police official said.
They were sent to jail following court order, he said.
