Clash near HC: 500 BNP men sued: Mukijoddha Dal chief Ulfat held

A case has been filed against 500 people in connection with Tuesday’s clash with police and a group of activists of the pro-BNP Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal in front of the Supreme Court during a protest to demand the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Sub-Inspector Motiur Rahman as plaintiff filed the case on charges of vandalism and assault on police with Shahbagh police on Tuesday.
Law enforcers subsequently arrested the President of the organisation Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the early of hours of Wednesday in connection with the case, said Sajjadur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of DMP’s Ramna Division.
About 15 or 20 people are named in the case while the rest are unidentified suspects, said Shahbagh Police Inspector Ariful Rahman.
A number of vehicles were also vandalized during the clash.
Police in a drive arrested Muktijoddha Dal President Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 1:45am in connection with the case, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Ishtiaq was scheduled to go to the US, he said.
