A tribunal here on Sunday convicted five people and sentenced them to death for killing a school teacher in 2018.
The condemned convicts are-Kazi Murad, Kazi Farhad Hossain, Mohammad Zakir, Kazi Rawnakul Islam and Saiful. Of them, Zakir was tried in absentia.
The tribunal also fined them Tk 50,000 each.
According to the prosecution, Kazi Tasfin Hossain, Toyon, 32, a school teacher and son of Kazi Ferdous Hossain of Khalishpur area, was killed by the convicts on August 28, 2018 and they dumped the body in a water body.
Later, victim’s father filed a case with Khalishpur Police Station.After investigation, police arrested Saiful Islam through mobile tracking and after interrogation they recovered the body of Tafsin from the water body.
Police submitted chargesheet against seven people on December 10, 2018.
