After reconstitution of the convening committee of Dhaka city unit, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia now wants to see new leadership in her party’s front bodies, as the party wants to launch a ‘tougher anti-government after the Eid-ul-Fitr’. She is also thinking of float a new front body- Juba Mahila Dal- to create momentum in the ‘upcoming street movement’. BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said that they are reconstituting the party during the time when the country is passing through critical time to wage a successful movement. He hoped that the new Dhaka city unit convening committee would activate the leaders and workers to take to the streets against the ruling Awami League. On Friday night, BNP announced the 52-member convening committee of the Dhaka city unit, accommodating senior leaders of the city.Party insiders said that after finalising the city unit committee Khaleda Zia is now working to finalise the new committees of different front bodies. She wants to bring young and dedicated leadership in the front bodies so that they can take to the streets to topple the government. She is now staying in Saudi Arabia and soon after her return, she will announce the committees of the front bodies, said a BNP leader. Some Chhatra Dal leaders said that the new committee of the student wing is coming soon, as a list of the probable leaders of the upcoming committee has already been provided to Khaleda Zia. BNP’s student affairs secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and former JCD president Sultan Salahuddin Tuku are playing vital role for formation of a new JCD committee. Tuku said that the new committee would be announced at the right time. Khaleda Zia is also thinking to bring major changes in the leadership of the Juba Dal, as it is considered important for street movement. Meanwhile, the BNP Chief wants to utilize the woman leaders and workers of the party in the streets movement. From this view, alongside with the reconstitution of Mahila Dal, the only woman body of the BNP, she is also planning to float another front body for the women. Former woman MP of the party Rasheda Begum Heera may lead the new wing, sources said.Rasheda Begum Heera told The New Nation that the BNP is a big party and the Mahila Dal can’t accommodate the huge numbers of woman leaders and workers. In this backdrop, the introduction of the new body for woman named Juba Mahila Dal is being discussed in the party forum, she said.
