5 poachers arrested along with trap from Sundarbans

Some five poachers were arrested along with a trap from Jamtala area of Katka sanctuary forest under Sharankhola Forest Range in the Eastern Division of Sundarbans Forest (in Bagerhat district) on Monday afternoon, according to a delayed report received here. A 250-yard long trap made of nylon (used for catching deer), one horn of spotted deer, one big knife locally known as Daa and an axe were received from them.
The arrested poachers were sent to the court at Bagerhat district town on Tuesday afternoon. They (poachers) are Jamal Hawladar (60), son of one late Amin Uddin Hawladar and Mostafa Hawladar (50), son of one late Halim Hawladar from village Madhya Khontakata, Rafik Moll (38), son of one late Habib Molla from village Purbo Khontakata and Monirul (45), son of one late Zulfikar and Shamim Akon (23), son of one Monirul Akon from village Uttar Khontakata under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district.
Md. Joynal Abedin (ACF), Assistant Ranger of Sharankhola Forest Range told in the afternoon while a squad of forest guards led by Sarkar Abul Kalam, Officer-in-Charge of Katka sanctuary forest office were discharging their normal patrol duties in the forest near to Jamtala Watch Tower area they (forest guards) found some one had been cutting straws from there and when they (straw cutters) were charged they failed to show any documents of permits procured from the forest department to the forest guards. Then they admitted that they were poachers of deer.
