5 including a UP Chairman killed in road crashes

At least five persons including a UP Chairman died in separate road crashes across the country on Thursday.
In Savar, at least two persons including the owner and driver of a bus were killed and four others injured when another passenger bus rammed it from the back side in Savar on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Jalil, 33, owner of the bus of Ahad Paribahan and its driver Zahangir Alam, 32.
The accident occurred in front of Bangladesh Betar in Kabirpur area on the Nabinagor-Chandra Highway around 5:00am, said Jahangir Alom, Senior Station Officer of DEPZ Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Mujibor Rahman, Officer in-Charge of Salna Highway Police confirmed the news to the media that the buses involved in the accident were seized, but the helper and driver of SR Plus Paribahan managed to flee, he added.
The bodies were sent to a local hospital for post mortem said OC Mujibor Rahman.
In Kishoreganj, a Union Parishad Chairman, who sustained injury in a road accident at Shimulkandi area on the Katiadi-Mathkhola Highway in Kishoreganj on August 13, succumbed to his injury at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment.
The deceased was identified as Md Idris Ali, 77, was running Chairman of Masua Union Parishad.
Local sources said that a motorcycle collided head-on with a bicycle at the area on which the UP Chairman was returning home from Masua Union Parishad, leaving him critically injured.
Later, local people rescued him and admitted to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex. But doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated. In Dhaka, a van driver was killed when an auto-rickshaw rammed him in city’s Jatrabari area on Thursday noon. The deceased was identified as Dolo Miah,45, from Kotwali thana of Rangpur district.
Mazharul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Jatrabari Police Station told the news to the media.
