Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five alleged arms traders from the city’s Badda area on Sunday night.
The arrested men are: Rubel Sheikh, 24, Sohel Mollah, 24, Bahes Sheikh, 32, Abbas Mia, 25, and Ariful Islam Arif alias Pani Arif, 25.
They also seized four revolvers, eight magazines and 38 rounds of bullets from their possession, Tuhin Md Masud, Commanding Officer of RAB-1 told the reporters in RAB Media Center in the capital’s Karwan Bazar on
Monday morning.
They all are the members of an arms trader’s gang led by Tareque Ahmed Anik, who supplied 45 to 50 foreign pistols to different people in the city, the CO said.
“The detainees are involved in arms trading for long,” he said.
A case was filed with the Badda Police Station in this connection.
