47-member team to represent Bangladesh in 4th Asian Beach Games

A 47-member Bangladesh contingent is likely to participate in the 4th Asian Beach Games to be held in the Thai tourist city of Phuket on November 14-23.
Of the Games’ 26 disciplines of sports for 169 gold, Bangladesh will compete in six sports — marathon swimming, beach basketball, beach handball, beach volleyball, beach wrestling, and beach kabbadi (men’s and women’s).
Bangladesh contingent comprises 33 athletes including six women, eight team officials including one woman, four contingent official, one physician and chef-de-mission.
Bangladesh Beach Handball team is the largest with 10 players and two officials while marathon swimming team consists of only one swimmer and one official.
Bangladesh Men’s Beach Kabaddi team comprising six players and one official may be axed from the contingent following their dismal performance in the ongoing 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. Bangladesh men’s kabaddi team lost all the three group matches against India, Pakistan and Thailand.
A 166-member contingent is representing Bangladesh in the 13 disciplines of sports in the 17th Asian Games in Incheon.
