Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain said four 20-storey residential buildings for government employees in capital’s Motijheel area would be inaugurated in the next month.
“The construction works are at the last stage. Of the four buildings, three have eight units and one has four units in each floor,” he said this on Wednesday while paid a visit to the construction site.
“A total of 2,980 families of government employees now live in Motijheel area in 164 buildings. We have enacted a plan to build multistoried buildings by demolishing the old ones. Under this plan, around 10,000 families will get housing benefits in the area. The government has set a target to raise the housing benefits for the government employees from existing 8 percent to 40 percent,” Eng Mosharraf added.
The minister said construction work of four 20-storey buildings in capital’s Azimpur area has already been completed. Housing benefits for 114 secretaries of the government will be provided in three 20-storey buildings in tenement house.
