Jubair killing: 4 accused escape from court after cancelling bails

Court Correspondent :Four accused in the Jahangirnagar University student Zubair Ahmed murder case escaped from the dock of a court after the judge cancelled their bail on Sunday.The four fugitives are Ashiqul Islam Ashique, Khan Mohammad Rois, Mahbub Akram and Ishtiaque Mehbub Arup.When Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 Judge ABM Nizamul Haque cancelled their bail in the afternoon the four accused tactfully disappeared from the dock and at the time there was no police in front of the courtroom. Earlier, on the day, the court cancelled the bail of six accused in the sensational murder case as they breached the terms of bail set by the High Court.Of them, four accused were present in the courtroom during hearing, while accused Rashedul Islam Raju (a student of Philosophy Department) and Zahidul Islam (a student of zoology) were not present in the court.Jubair Ahmed, 23, a 37th batch student at the Department English and activist of Chhatra League Jahangirnagar University unit, died at United Hospital in the capital on January 9 in 2012, hours after his adduction and tortures on the campus by his political opponents on January 8.The Investigation Officer filed a charge sheet on April 8 last year against 13 students of the university’s 37th batch. Other accused are Shafiul Alam Setu and Abhinandan Kundu Ofi (Statistics), Kamruzzaman Sohag, Rashedul Islam Razu (Philosophy), Mahmudul Hasan and Mazharul Islam (History), Nazmus Shakib Tapu ((Microbiology) and Nazmul Hassan Plaban (Public Administration).
