The court directed the IO for more investigation of the case against an alleged militant in absence of any names of accused in the charge sheet. The court of the Chittagong Metropolitan Session Judge Mohammed Nurul Islam on Wednesday directed the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case of arrested alleged JMB leader Ershad Hossain alias Mamun alias JMB Mamun for more investigation.
Sources in the court said, Wednesday was the date of the framing of charge of the case. The lawyers of the state appealed before the court alleging that arrested Ershad disclosed the names of his accomplice before the court during his statement under section 164.
But, in the charge sheet, the IO of the case did not include the names of his accomplices. So, the accomplices of notorious JMB leaders should be included in the charge sheet, the lawyers appealed. Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Fakhruddin claimed that the arrested militant and JMB leader Ershad gave the statement under 164 before the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate on March 29 in 2015 after his arrest.
In the statement he told that Rajib Gandhi, Raisul Islam alias Fardin and Bulbul Ahmod alias Fuad were his accomplice in several attacks. They gave Ershad information before the attack. They also gave him arms at that time. But, the IO of the case excluded the names of Rajib Gandhi, Raisul Islam alias Fardin and Bulbul Ahmod alias Fuad from the charge sheet. Therefore, the lawyers appealed before the court for more investigation of the case to include the names of militants who were exposed in the confessional statement of Ershad before the court.
However, the court did not frame the charge of case and directed the IO of the case for more investigation, he added.
Sources said, the notorious JMB leader Ershad was arrested from a house at Shapla Point at Baganbari area at Monsurabad at Colonel Hat in the port city on March 23 in 2015. Police recovered huge equipment of manufacturing of grenade, gun powder, bomb like arms and books on militancy from his possession at that time.
Sources said, Ershad Hossain alias Mamun alias JMB Mamun was involved with Islami Chhatra Shibir and hailed from Dinajpur. He came to Chittagong in 2014 for committing bomb attack in the port city at that time as per directives of high ups of JMB. He joined JMB after passing SSC examination in 2011. He was working at a Photostats shop which was owned by JMB.
Sources said, Ershad gave the statement under 164 before the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate on March 29 in 2015 after his arrest. At the statement he told that Rajib Gandhi, Raisul Islam alias Fardin and Bulbul Ahamod alias Fuad were his accomplice in several attacks. They gave Ershad information before the attack. They also gave him arms at that time.
