4.2 kg gold seized at HSIA: 1 held

A joint team of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and Custom Intelligence detained a youth along with 36 gold bars, weighing nearly 4.2 kilograms worth about Tk 2.20 crore in the city’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Monday. The arrested person has been identified as Jamal Uddin 25, a passenger of Biman Bangladesh Airlines BG-048, coming from Dubai, the customs officials said.Customs Intelligence Director Mustafizur Rahma confirmed the news and said that the airport customs officials checked the luggage of Jamal Uddin following an information when he was crossing the green channel of the airport around 10:30am. The gold bars were found in the Jamal’s luggage and the pipe of a bicycle, the official said. A case was lodged with the Airport Police Station in this connection, he added.
