The Election Commission on Thursday announced schedule for the third phase of the 127 upazila Parishad election.
As per the schedule, the election will be held on March 24, with the last date of filing nomination papers being February 26. The papers will be scrutinised on February 28 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is March 7.
EC Joint Secretary (Public Relations) SM Asaduzzaman announced the polls schedule through a press conference at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon of the capital on Thursday afternoon.
During this phase, election will take place in the upazilas under Chapainawabganj, Rangpur, Magura, Narail, Chuadanga, Satkhira, Kushtia, Meherpur, Jhenaidah, Barishal, Bhola, Jhalakati, Sherpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Gopalganj, Rajbari, Manikganj, Gazipur, Narsingdi, Kishoreganj, Chandpur, Laxmipur, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar districts.
The first phase of the upazila polls is scheduled to take place on March 10 and the second phase will be held on March 18.
Similar to the last time, the polls will be administered in several phases but for the first time the candidates will be contesting under a party banner.
