39 deaths and 2,733 infected from Covid-19 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh on Thursday registered 39 deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said.
Besides, 2,733 people were infected in the same span, according to the DGHS.
“With the new fatalities, the death toll now stands at 2,496 and the death rate at 1.27 percent,” said Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of the DGHS in a press briefing.
She said that total 12,889 samples were tested in 80 authorised laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours, where the infection rate found at 21.20 percent.
The DGHS official said that the total number of infections in the country has reached at 1,96,323, and the total infection rate stands at 19.76 percent.
Dr. Sultana said that 1,940 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the total number of recoveries stands at 1,06,963, while the recovery rate is 54.48 percent now.
She said that total 867 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours.
The DGHS official said that among the deceased, 31 were male while 16 were from Dhaka, six from Chattogram, three from Sylhet, three from Rangpur, two from Barishal, one from Rajshahi and six were from Khulna division.
Of them, one was under 10, one was between 11-20, two between 31-40, three within 41-50, 12 between 51-60, 15 between 61-70, four within 71-80 and one was 81-90 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus infection on March 8 and first death from the fatal virus on March 18.
The country remains the 17th worst affected country in the world as per of the number of infections of the disease.
