Stocks see upward trend on higher transactions

Stocks witnessed upward trends on Wednesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges went up on higher transactions.
The day’s trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 561.49 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 507.76 crore and the daily trade also rose to 15.85 crore share from 13.92 crore share of the previous session.
The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 45.04 points up at 5,823. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 14.63 points up at 2,190.78 and with 2.10 points up at 1,357.90 respectively.
At the DSE, out of the day’s 339 securities, prices of 129 securities closed higher against 166 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Exim Bank, USMANIAGL, Eastern Lubricant, EBL and Apex Spinning while the major losing issues were Fareast Finance, ADVET, Sonali Ansh, CAPMBDBLMF and Popular Life Insurance.
Beximco topped the turnover list, followed by Al Arafah Bank, Brac Bank, UPDGCL and USMANIAGL.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 117.08 points up at 17,966.27.
