A total of 30 students of various departments under the Faculty of Science of Dhaka University (DU) on Sunday received ‘Dean’s Award’ for their outstanding academic results in BS honours examination of 2014.
Besides, three teachers also of the same faculty were honoured with the award for their extra-ordinary contributions to original research and writing books.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed certificates among the recipients as chief guest at a function held in the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
The brilliant students are Anika Tahsin, Redwan Md. Habibullah, Iffat Nur Esha and Priyanka Datta of Physics Department, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Sujit Kumar Bala, Amit Kumar Saha, Hazrat Ali, Murshed Ahmed Ovi, Maria Mahbub, Rezwana Razzaque Angana, Hasna Hena and Nazrul Islam of Mathematics Department, Farah Jeba and Md. Mazharul Islam of Chemistry Department, A H M Musfiqur Rahman Nabeen, Most. Sonia Khatun, Md. Sakibur Hasan, Rubaiya Ahmed, Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Md. Abdul Khalek, Md. Manzur Murshed and Md. Rzjwan Haque of Statistics, Biostatistics & Informatics Department, Elizabeth Bianca Sarker, Farhana Nabi, Nusma Rahman, Shamsia Sobhan, Md. Belal Hossain, Mir Raihanul Islam and Shaila Sharmin of Applied Statistics Department.
The awarded teachers are Professor Ishtiaque M. Syed of Physics Department, Associate Professor Md. Hasinur Rahaman Khan and Lecturer Azmary Jaman of Institute of Statistical Research and Training.
Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Mohammed Abdul Aziz presided over the function while Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Md. Akhtaruzzaman and Treasurer Professor Md. Kamal Uddin addressed it as special guests.
