30 gold bars seized at Ctg Airport

Thirty gold bars with an estimated market value of Tk 15 million have been seized on Thursday at Chittagong’s Shah Amanat International Airport.
Two men have been detained after the gold consignment was found with them.
They are the airport’s temporary cleaning staffs ‘Jibon’ and ‘Shukhlal’. Airport’s Assistant Commissioner of Customs Department Parvez E Zamal told bdnews24.com that flight BG048 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines arrived from Dubai at 10:30 am.
The two cleaning staffs were searched on suspicion while coming back from the aircraft after cleaning it, said Zamal.
The gold bars were found from Shukhlal. Seizure of contraband gold has risen sharply in Bangladesh indicating to a spurt in smuggling.
