An 11-year-old schoolgirl was slaughtered to death by unidentified miscreants at their residence in Bakalia area of Chattogram Port City on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Inhas Binte Nasir, a sixth-grade student of Mern Sun School and College in the city. She was the eldest daughter of Mohammad Nasir, a migrant worker based in Saudi Arabia.
Police recovered the throat slashed body from a pool of blood around 9:30pm, said Shah Md Abdur Rauf, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan (South) Police.
Inhas used to live with her family in their own apartment. Her father, Mohammad Nasir is a migrant worker based in Saudi Arabia. Inhas was the eldest among three siblings.Several teams of law enforcing agencies are working to unearth the motive of the sensational planned murder, the police official said.
Quoting locals, Pranab Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge of Baklia Police Station, said, “On the day, the victim’s mother Nasrin Akter Khushbu took her second daughter to school at 8:00am, leaving Inhas asleep with the third child, who is only two and a half years old. After returning home around 9:00am, Khushbu found that the door was open and Inhas was lying in bed with her face covered under a pillow. At one stage, I called her but did not get any response. Then, I found that her throat was severed.”
“We are yet to find any motive for the incident,” said the police official.
Police are investigating the incident. We have already questioned the victim’s mother Khushbu, the OC said.
A similar case occurred earlier in the same area, he mentioned.
Facing the unbearable situation, Khushbu tried to commit suicide by hurting herself after seeing her daughter dead, said her sister-in-law Jebunnessa.
The house was vandalised and some of her ornaments were taken away from the closet, she said.
